So we have been living at our 'new' house for over a week now and we love it! It is much bigger than what we thought we'd move into but I can't complain about having my own sewing/crafting room. It's technically smaller than our 'old' house but the space is much more user friendly. I was really concerned that the cats would hate it. I'm not sure exactly what I meant by hate it but I thought it would take awhile to get used to it. The yard is much smaller and doesn't really have any grass to speak of. It also doesn't have a fence for them to hide behind when they get chased by big dogs. It hasn't really bothered them though. Once they kind of got chased by a big golden lab but the front door was open so Charles ran through that and The Colonel got real big and hissed at him. Adam and I started yelling and Mr. Doggie just jogged along. Ok this paragraph really switched from the house to the cats.
In addition to a sewing room we have our bedroom and a computer room. I think the thing we have both enjoyed the most is having a bedroom. Having our dressers in the same room as our bed and having it function only as a bedroom has been soooooo nice. I didn't even know I was missing that at the other house but now that we have it, I notice. Also, my commute to work is about 1.5 minutes. I'm looking at the house right now. It's catty-corner across the street and I'm always looking over at the front door to see if anything is 'going on'. Nothing ever is.
Oh, and I've totally noticed this since I've lived in three different places recently. There are things that I cannot use when I move into a new place. Some of them make sense and others seem a little paranoid. #1 I always have to replace the toilet seats. I don't know why. I never think about toilet seats when I'm at a friends house but I always get new toilet seats when I move. This one seems kind of understandable #2 - Shower curtain. Seriously? Why do people leave their old crusty shower curtain in the first place? It's gross. I also have a strong preference for linen curtains and most people use those plastic kind. I had to take this last one down with gloves it bothered me so much. The next one is also kind of bathroom related but also extends to the kitchen, #3 faucet knobs. I always want to buy new knobs but rarely do I take it that far. These I just take apart, soak and scrub. I've been good about not buying new ones so far. I think this one falls into the paranoia category so I try to be more reasonable. #4 is much more unexplainable, ice cube trays. I can't stand it when people leave these in the fridge. It's really gross to me and I always bring my own. Why don't people take them when they move? Will they not have a freezer in their new place? Maybe they are 'supposed' to stay with the freezer, I don't know. Gross. I just got the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it.
Soooo 'fess up. What is it that you have to replace when you move into a new place? Nothing at all?
