- No small amount of credit goes to horn-u-copia, trumpetmaster, and trumpetherald for assistance with research and tips on horn maintenance and repair.

About: I am an individual collector and small-time dealer located in Southwestern Colorado.  Click here to email me.  If you want me to call you, email me your phone number and name.

Shipping: Prices include shipping in the lower 48.  I will ship worldwide.  International buyers should email me for a shipping cost quote.

Payment: I accept paypal, money orders, and checks.  Simply click the "Buy now" button for credit card or paypal payment.  All money orders, cashier and personal checks require time to clear.  The only exception is USPS money orders, which I will accept the same as cash.

Why not ebay?:  Well, ebay is actually just fine.  I buy and sell on ebay.  Some of the horns below may have started as ebay finds.  However, many of the sellers on ebay don't understand brass instruments, much less trumpets and cornets.  Many-a-buyer has headed to ebay for a good deal on a 35 year old cornet and end up with an unwanted project -- frozen slides, slow valves and all.  Any horn that I sell will have been deep cleaned, repaired if necessary to restore playability, and tested to ensure that it is ready to go.

I am looking for a beginner trumpet/cornet...I have several in stock if you scroll down or click here.  Also, definitely read this guide that I wrote up on how to choose a student or beginner trumpet.

Will you buy my horn?  Maybe.  I am only interested in trumpets, cornets, and flugelhorns.  Email me details and pictures and I'll give you a quote.

Do you accept trade-ins?  Yes. I don't have a set price list, but I will try to offer a fair credit towards your purchase.  Email pics of your horn for a trade-in value.

ALL PRICES INCLUDE SHIPPING WITHIN THE CONTINENTAL U.S.  EXPEDITED SHIPPING AVAILABLE FOR AN ADDITIONAL FEE

Student Trumpets and Cornets

Student horns are $175 including shipping.  These are mostly quality American-made horns from the sixties through the eighties.  Each has been thoroughly tested and refurbished as needed to ensure excellent playability and servicability down the road.  Do not expect a showpiece - most show evidence of repair and have worn lacquer and dents.  These are not delicate horns - each will last a long time and are made handle typical student abuse.  Each trumpet or cornet includes a case, mouthpiece, and valve oil.

Yamaha YCR-731 Cornet - SOLD
  • This was the pro-level cornet from yamaha from '69 - '79.
  • Note the attention to detail such as the silver plating on the first inch of the tuning slide.
  • Cosmetic condition is 8/10.  Horn shows minor dents that do not effect the silver plating
  • Playing condition is 10/10.  Valves are silky smooth, slides move freely and easily.
  • 0.445 bore.  This is a medium bore, smallish by today's standards.  Smaller bores have more resistance with tighter note slotting.
  • Includes pro-tec case and yamaha mouthpiece

Acme (York) Master Cornet c. 1959
--- sold ---
  • Acme was a stencil name used for York Instruments.
  • This horn is, in construction, nearly identical to the York Feathertouch Cornet.  Valves have patented feathertouch spring design.
  • Refinshed to raw brass with original nickel accents.
  • Note the rose brass bell
  • Cosmetic condition is 7/10.  Horn has several dents.  Nickel plating flakey in places.
  • Playing condition is 5/10.  Valves don't stick but are sluggish.  Slides work but are slow.
  • Horn was heavily corroded upon receipt.  Chemical bath helped quite a bit, signs of surface red rot removed, but this horn will require some regular maintenance to keep that at bay.
